Web Search

Search the web for real-time information, facts, and recommendations.

Chalie can search the web to find information it doesn’t already know. This is especially useful for current events, local recommendations, prices, and anything that changes frequently.

Getting started:

  • “Search for the best Italian restaurants near me.”
  • “What are the opening hours for the British Museum?”
  • “Find me a good Python library for parsing PDFs.”

When Chalie searches

Chalie decides whether to search based on your question. If you ask about something well-established (“how does photosynthesis work?”), it answers directly. If you ask about something current or local, it searches first.

You can also explicitly request a search:

  • “Search for reviews of the iPhone 16 Pro.”
  • “Look up the current exchange rate for euros to dollars.”
  • “Find out who won the championship last night.”

Fact-checking and research

Search is useful for verifying claims or doing quick research:

  • “Is it true that caffeine takes 6 hours to leave your system?”
  • “What does the WHO currently recommend about X?”
  • “Find recent research on intermittent fasting and metabolic health.”

Local recommendations

Search works well for local queries, especially when you combine it with your location:

  • “Find the nearest hardware store to [your postcode].”
  • “What are the best-reviewed dentists near [city]?”
  • “Is there a farmers market near me on weekends?”

Combining search with other abilities

Search often pairs naturally with other tasks:

  • “Find me a recipe for shakshuka, then save it as a document.”
  • “Look up the specs for the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones and give me a summary.”
  • “Search for flights from London to Lisbon next month and tell me the rough price range.”

How it works

Chalie uses a web search API to retrieve current results and then synthesises the most relevant information into a plain-language answer. It cites sources so you can verify or read more.
