Research a purchase — compare products, find the best price, check reviews, and recommend the best option.

What it does

Research a purchase — compare products, find the best price, check reviews, and recommend the best option.

Procedure

When this skill is activated, Chalie follows these steps:

  1. Use memory to recall any stored purchase preferences or brand notes, then ask what the user wants to buy, their budget, and the 2–3 most important criteria (e.g. price, durability, specific feature, brand preference).
  2. Use memory to recall any prior preferences, brands to avoid, or past purchase context.
  3. Use search to find the top 4–6 products in the category that fit the budget — look for both editorial recommendations and retailer listings.
  4. Use read to extract specs, pricing, and availability from the most relevant product pages or comparison sites.
  5. Use search to find independent user reviews for the top 3 candidates — look for patterns in complaints and praise rather than single reviews.
  6. Use browser if a retailer site requires JS to display pricing or availability correctly.
  7. Use document to produce a comparison table: product name, price, key specs, and pros/cons — then give a clear recommendation with the single most important reason for the choice.
  8. Use list to add the recommended item to a shopping list if the user wants to track it.
